Pistis - Torre dei Corsari

The original name is “Dune di Is Arenas 'e s'acqua 'e s'ollastu”. The dunes overlook a very long beach of very clear sand, with high basalt cliffs at the ends. On the coast between the gulf of Pistis and Torre dei Corsari, it is possible to visit the so called "sa domu 'e su poeta", the house of the poet, and it's nothing more than an immense prickly juniper transformed into a refuge overlooking the sea and the dunes of Pistis. A particular refuge: who created it, about thirty years ago, is a gentleman from Guspini, who wanted every foreigner to leave two or three rhyming verses at the end of his visit. And the improvised poems are all still there: arranged sheets, notebook pages and even pieces of cardboard that leave room for the imagination, as long as they rhyme, of those who have had the good fortune to arrive in these parts. It is a corner of paradise, this "home". A patient work of its inventor has transformed a plant into a house. The "roof" is covered with small dried helichrysum bushes, a very fragrant shrub typical of the Mediterranean maquis. The main trunk of the juniper naturally separates the "rooms": the one dedicated to the poems is not missing. Just outside, a small succulent garden. And then the view on the immensedunes of Pistis and the blue sea, which can be reached after a 10-minute walk. All around, greenery and, above all, silence. The dunes are fed during the winter by the strong mistral which swells the dunes carrying sand from the beach. This beach reaches the next and largest tourist center of the Arburese coast: Torre dei Corsari.
